Thank to an air line technology, our low loss high power directional couplers offer power handling up to 2.5 kW CW, or higher on request, with a very low level of insertion loss.
In a frequency range from 1 MHz up to 18 GHz, choose our coupling factor values between 30 to 50 dB.
Depending on the power handling and the frequency range, we offer a wide choice of connectors such as N type, DIN 7/16, 1-5/8…
Design for severe conditions of use, our low loss high power directional couplers are suitable for lots of applications such as RF Jamming, Electronic Countermeasures, Navigation and Combat RADAR systems or Military radio communications as well as EMC / EMI testing pruposes.

High power directional couplers are an essential component in many RF and microwave application. Indeed, they are used to measure, without major perturbation, the power going through a transmission line, by allowing a small amount of power to be sampled. These products are vital to the development of modern RF systems such as cellular networks, satellite communication (SATCOM), RADAR, EMC Testing etc.
A high-power directional coupler is a passive device designed to operate with high power RF application. It is a four-port network which includes an input main line, an output main line, a coupled port and a termination port. The main function of such a coupler is to split the main line input signal into two signals. One weak one which is a sample of the main signal sent to the coupled port. The other part of the signal goes to the main line output port.
Directional couplers are designed to be unidirectional, meaning that the signal can only travel from the main line to the coupled port. This allows for accurate measurement and control of the power in the transmission line, without causing any interference or reflection of the signal. The isolation between the input and isolated ports ensures that the main signal is not affected by the sampled signal, and the termination port is used to dissipate any unwanted energy that is not transmitted through the coupler.
One of the most important aspects of a high-power directional coupler is its power handling capabilities. These devices are designed to operate at high power levels, and must be able to handle the high levels of energy that are present in RF systems. The power handling capability of a coupler is determined by its design and construction, including the size of the components and the materials used.
